Advent is from Sunday November 29 - Wednesday December 25 and is a period of preparation for both “advents”, or arrivals, of Jesus Christ - both His incarnation on Earth, and his Second Coming.

One of the ways we reflect on Advent in communal worship is by utilizing an Advent wreath--a simple wreath surrounding four exterior candles and one central candle. The four exterior candles represent the hallmarks of a renewed creation: joy, hope, peace and love. The central candle represents the presence of Christ.

Christmas can be a tender time for many. If you’re feeling grief, loneliness, stress, or simply need a quiet space in the midst of a busy season, you are invited to our Blue Christmas Service—a gentle, reflective time of worship designed to offer comfort and hope.

On December 21 at 5:00 P.M. we will share Scripture, prayer, soft music, and candlelight as we remember God’s promise to be near to the brokenhearted. You are welcome just as you are.

All are invited. Come find peace, healing, and light.

The New Orleans Nighthawks Quartet begins their Florida winter season on Friday, December 12th at 6:30 PM in the church Fellowship Hall.

The concert is free!! And free pizza and soft drinks will be served from 6:15 PM until 7:30 PM.

Put on your dancing shoes, invite a friend, and come enjoy an evening of lively traditional jazz music!

During the holiday season, the Lake Wales Care Center strives to be a bridge for families in need by providing food to families during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The barrels for this year's food drive are located in the narthex and in the hallway outside the church office. Food donations will be collected through December 17th.

Join Steve Knitter for a 12-week Bible study titled “The Journey to Spiritual Maturity.”Together, participants will travel with Moses and the Hebrew people through the Sinai wilderness, exploring how God shaped them after their deliverance from Egypt.

Each week will feature a video highlighting one of the Israelites’ stops along the journey and the spiritual lesson learned there.

The paperback workbook is available from the author’s website for $8. The class will meet beginning on Tuesday, November 11th at 10 AM in Room 103 and will run through December 16th. After a two week break for the holidays, the class will begin meeting again on January 6th and continue until February 17th.

Every Wednesday - 5:30 P.M. - Room 103 with Reverend Bill! The group learns about and discusses the scripture for the coming Sunday!

Join the class and learn sign language in a fun and supportive environment! No prior experience needed—everyone is welcome to participate and practice communication through sign.

Carolyn McCullough leads the class every Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Each year for Christmas, FUMCLW partners with The Family Literacy Academy of Lake Wales to give a pair of pajamas, a book, and a stuffed animal to each child who participates in the educational program at the Academy.

The project will run from November 16th through December 7th. Pick a tag for a boy or girl and bring a pair of new pajamas (unwrapped) to the church and place them on the altar. A donation of $10 will provide a book and a stuffed animal for each child.
