The GeriActives will once again participate in the Lake Wales Care Center's Empty Bowls fundraiser by painting bowls for their Empty Bowls auction.

Empty Bowls is an annual silent and live auction for hand-painted pottery from local artists. Each year, artists, community leaders, staff, volunteers, and others come together to paint objects for Empty Bowls. The funds raised from the auction contribute to Lake Wales Care Center food programs. By attending and purchasing an item, you are directly contributing to combatting food insecurity and providing comfort for neighbors in need throughout the Lake Wales community. With the next segment of our Loving Our Neighbors series focusing on food insecurity, this activity, whose goal is "to raise awareness of the empty bowls in our community," seems particularly appropriate.

The group will meet at 10:00 a.m. at The Lake Wales Arts Center (1099 State Road 60 East) on January 8th to paint bowls. The Care Center provides a bisque bowl, brushes, and paints: "everything needed to create a uniquely beautiful hand-painted piece." The painters will have lunch at noon at Advent Health Hospital's cafeteria.

The next step in our "Loving our Neighbors" series will focus on Food Insecurity - what is the reality of hunger in our own community? Our planning group is open to volunteers who would be willing to assist in setting things up. We are looking to set a date in January, which will be here before we know it!

Join Steve Knitter for a 12-week Bible study titled “The Journey to Spiritual Maturity.”Together, participants will travel with Moses and the Hebrew people through the Sinai wilderness, exploring how God shaped them after their deliverance from Egypt.

Each week will feature a video highlighting one of the Israelites’ stops along the journey and the spiritual lesson learned there.

The paperback workbook is available from the author’s website for $8. The class will meet beginning on Tuesday, November 11th at 10 AM in Room 103 and will run through December 16th. After a two week break for the holidays, the class will begin meeting again on January 6th and continue until February 17th.

The children will be invited to our December 14th service to sign Jesus Loves Me with our signing group
